What is the Grand Prix of Lima 2019?

The Grand Prix Lima 2019 is an international competition that will have place in Lima (Peru) the next 8, 9 and 10 November, 2019.

The Peruvian Weightlifting Federation will host this significant even in partnership with ODESUR, CSLP and the IWF. Actually, this contest will follow the IWF Technical and Competition Rules and Regulations (TCRR).

The invitations have been sent to the Top 12 first athletes accord to the IWF Ranking.

In November, Lima won’t be only the capital of Peru but the weightlifting capital too. This historical city has hosted different and remarkable weightlifting competitions in different categories. This 2019, it will witness one of the most important events in weightlifting calendar, not just because there will have the best international weightlifter but because this event could help some athletes classify to the next Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games.

This match will have place in the branded new Villa Deportiva Nacional (VIDENA). Created in 1969, it has been remodeled for the 2019 Pan American Games celebrated in the 2019 summer. This facility will be the training and competition venue.

The Grand Prix is an invitational event. The invitations have been sent to the Top 12 first athletes accord to the IWF Ranking. The Organizing Committee has invited one weightlifter in each category (maximum 1 per country), plus the Fist South American classified. Beside this invitations, Organizing Committee has also extended an invitation to two invited athletes and one athlete from Peru.

Organizing Committee offers money prizes not only for the three best competitors in each category, it also offers money prizes bonus for the athletes breaking the World Record

The different bodyweight categories which are competing are:

Men: 61kg., 67kg., 72kg., 81kg. and 96kg.

Women: 49kg., 55kg., 64kg., 76kg. and 87kg.

The spectacle is guaranteed not just because there will be the best weightlifter of the world, but the Organizing Committee offers money prizes not only for the three best competitors in each category, it also offers money prizes bonus for the athletes breaking the World Record in Total and the Junior World Record in Total.

This are the awards:

Prize Money will be awarded to the Top 3 best totals of each bodyweight categories:

1st Place:        USD 5000      

2nd Place:      USD 3000      

3rd Place:       USD 2000      

USD 2000 bonus will be provided for the athlete breaking the Junior World Record in Total (only the last one / one per bodyweight category).
